Respected Madam ,

I wish to introduce myself , at the outset, as a second year degree student in English Literature at the NSS College for women , Trivandrum.

As I am desirous of getting my poems published , I have pleasure in typing one of my poems for your kind perusal. Would you be pleased to go through the same and express your candid opinion whether they are worthy of getting published in your highly reputable publication.

Please let me know if you are planning a festival for 2008. I would like to come to Kerala and be one of the readers. Please give me your director's e-mail address, and I would be happy to write to him or her and describe my background, publishing history, etc.

Sincerely,

Sharon Olinka

Dear Rati,

it is a real pleasure and honor to see my poems in your Kritya. Thank you very much.
How did the festival go?
I met Peter Waugh and Pat Cotter just before they left for the festival and am sure that
it was a great success.
I wish you and Kritya continued success.

Best wishes,
Yasuhiro

Dear Rati,

Thank you so much (and thank you to Sulochana Ram Mohan) for the lovely review by Sulochana Ram Mohan. This is such a wonderfully considerate, observant, intelligent review. It brings so much joy to me to read it, to know someone has read my work this way, with so much thought, feeling, care, intelligence and generosity. I so much appreciate her insight and her response. Please, will you thank her for me?

And please, also, will you tell Sulochana RamMohan that I love her writing and that I, too (as in her bio.) am also a poet, short story writer, film critic and that I LOVE the “whatnot”she writes about because that is me, too, and so I feel this tremendous sense of connection with her. I love that she wrote that about herself. It’s beautiful. I also love that she uses both English and Malayalm in her work and that she is more interested in the interplay of these two languages than in writing serious poems

And it’s strange, but I’ve always wanted to visit Kerala. So if (when/ yes “when”) I get out of this mess (cancer) I can add another reason to visit Kerala. (I’ve only visited North India) And I should learn to read Malayalam anyway. Don’t you think? (I do)

And Rati, for you, I have a funny thing to say, and of course, it doesn’t matter, in fact it is much better the way that it turned out: I sent you my 2nd book to review a long time ago. I only sent you that 1st book (the one reviewed) much later on because Christina Pacosz told me your mother has Alzheimer’s Disease. Well, I was my mother’s caretaker with Alzheimer’s Disease for 7 years and I sent that book to you because I wrote it for other people like me and you who are going through this experience with our parents. So that book was really just a gift I sent to you. The fact that you had it reviewed instead of the new book I sent before is such a poetic event for me. Especially this particular review which I appreciate so much. So I thank you. It makes me smile and makes me laugh. Thank you. Thank you

I thank you with all my heart.

Love,

Bobbi Lurie

Hallo!!
It's so good to hear from you, Rati.
We are still in India, we decided to extend our vacation for 10 more days and we are in Himachal Pradesh, in Dharamshala, a very relaxing and laid down place and also very inspiring, where the spirituality of the Dalai Lama is felt at every corner.
It is really very nice to hear from you! Seriously, meeting you was one of the best things that happend to me in India, even if it was for a short time. You really transmitted me the passion of your work and therefore of your soul. I have been speaking about you a lot since I met you. A great woman that does a great deal for poetry. Incredible. I never met someone like that before. All the poets that I met are too concentrated on them selfs or their brains! They communicate me knoledge but not plasure, normally.
Anyway, everything is fine with me and Hannah, and this pariod in India, for more than one reason, has given me a new energy.
I hope everything is good with you. I didn't have the opportunity to read the new issue of Kritya, but I will once in Italy, when the normal life will start again.
Best wishes,
Giuseppe

Dear Rati,
Thank you so much for your kindness!
Thank you for understanding. I so appreciate your words to me--you have no idea how much. I truly thank you.
Thank you for the huge part you are playing in keeping poetry alive in this insane world of ours. I have been reading about your festival--it sounds just incredible--and I think it's wonderful how much effort you are putting into doing good in the world/ for making poetry important. For it truly is important. And we desperately need people like you who really care.
I'm so very honored to be made part of your efforts.
Thank you so much.
Below is the bio you requested:
I send you my love, Rati!
Really!
Thank you so much!
love,
Bobbi
p.s. if i can help you in any way--please just let me know--if i can do it you can consider it "done"--thank you, kind person. Thank you, Rati.
