Dear Ms. Saxena,
Congratulations on the wonderful April issue of Kritya! I have
read it from first poem
to last and am greatly impressed with the quality, range, and
impassioned understanding
that informs the work you have chosen for the Polish-American
issue of the magazine.
Some favorites include "Nowy Swiat by Colleen McKee, "Think
About It" by Maria
Jastrzebska, "Refugee" by David Radavich, "Blessed Are They" by
Mary Keene Derr- and, of
course, the beautifully brilliant poems of Czeslaw Milosz..
As a Polish-American Jew (on my father's side), these poems
bring some familiarity, but
also the gift of deepening my understanding by "filling in the
blanks" left by my
immigrant grandparents, who discussed very little of a past that
was in large part very
difficult.
Two of my poems are scheduled to appear in the May issue of
Kritya, and I am honored to
be in such distinguished company.
Best regards,
Dori Appel

John,
First of
all, I wanted to write and say thank you again for including
such a large batch of my work in that wonderful issue of Kritya.
Some of my friends and family have emailed me to say how much
they liked the issue.

Dear John,
You're so welcome. And I want to thank you and Christina again
for your efforts in getting this edition of Kritya published.
The more I read it, the more special it becomes, and the more
privileged and honored I feel to have been chosen to be a part
of it. I'm truly inspired by it and can't thank you enough for
what you've done.
What a beautiful spring this is!
Happy Easter! Wesolego Alleluja!

Dear Members of the West Side Detroit Polish American Historical
Society:
It's time to remind our membership of the approaching deadline
for reservations for our upcoming second annual west side
historic Polish church pilgrimage and Swieconka on April 18! As
of today, we have under 100 reservations, but they are still
coming in and we know more are on the way, so we have extended
the deadline to Monday, April 13. Our first annual church
pilgrimage/Swieconka last year was a blockbuster with 200
attending. We knew we would be fortunate to reach that number
again this year. We're grateful for all those who have reserved
places for this year and know that it will be an educational,
blessed, faith-filled day of reflection and renewal.
Pasted below is the reservation form for those still wishing to
reserve.
We also are pleased to pass along the below news from member and
writer Christina Pacosz regarding this month's special edition
of the on-line journal Kritya, edited by Dr. Rati Saxena and
guest edited this month by Christina Pacosz and Dr. John
Guzlowski. Having such a journal dedicated to and featuring
Polish-American poets is great cause for celebration. I have
always loved the romanticism of Milosz and have enjoyed the
other great Polish and Polish-American masters. Thanks to the
efforts of Dr. Rati Saxena, Christina Pacosz and Dr. John
Guzlowski, we now are exposed to a myriad other
extraordinarily gifted contemporary Polish-American poets, such
as Leonard Kress, Mary Krane Derr, and a cadre of others whose
writing we can love and appreciate and whose talents and
remarkable achievements we can admire.
April is a month in which we have much to look back on, to
reflect upon, and to remember.
Sincerely,
Laurie

Dear Madam,
I have been reading your poems from the site 'Soul to Soul'.
Taking into
account my inexperience it would be highly impertinent on my
side to comment
anything more than just ' I like them' (especially the
naturalness and
simplicity), about your works. For a while I too have been
trying to pen
down some. Being a beginner I would be very grateful if you
could give some
comments and advices. I write in my blog
www.mashoodkk123.blogspot.com
By the way I am also from Kerala, right now studying in Mumbai.
An attempted
English translation of Vayalar's famous song Prvachakanmare
parayoo.....is
in my blog. Whenever you have time, I request you to have a look
at
it........
warmly,

Polish theme - a very good theme for Easter. The Christians
celebrates the death of Christ next week - very sad and
triumphant festival. I am now attending 9 concerts all with old
old songs 'lamenting' (weeping) this. Here's an article I wrote

Because Thou art...
Because Thou art All-beauty and All-bliss,
My soul blind and enamoured yearns for Thee;
It bears Thy mystic touch in all that is
And thrills with the burden of that ecstasy.
Behind all eyes I meet Thy secret gaze
And in each voice I hear Thy magic tune:
Thy sweetness haunts my heart through Nature's ways;
Nowhere it beats now from Thy snare immune.
It loves Thy body in all living things;
Thy joy is there in every leaf and stone:
The moments bring Thee on their fiery wings;
Sight's endless artistry is Thou alone.
Time voyages with Thee upon its prow, -
And all the future's passionate hope is Thou.

Their devotion was against the cruelty of society. Meera, Akka
or
Lalleshwari were in reality voices protesting against the cruel
social
norms towards the woman.
Dear sister, your readers may be interested to read my article
on Nadia
Anjuman, who wrote so eloquently about the cruelty of Afghani
society toward
women, and then was cut down in the flower of her youth, it
seems, for the
crime of being a poet and a woman. Your readers can find my page
on Nadia
